Aputure Does It Again: The LS 600c is Unveiled to the World

We were at the Aputure Super Secret Film Dinner for NAB 2022, and the excitement in the building was beyond crazy. Everyone there was ready for Ted Sims to jump on stage and unveil Aputure's new lights! And boy, did Ted come through.

The Aputure 600c in the middle of the NAB 2022 Las Vegas show floor is on display alongside its cousin, the Aputure 600d.

Watch our podcast below to get our quick overview on the LS 600c from our experience handling it before its release, among other things at NAB:

First Impressions

First of all, just.....wow! We love our 600d lights, but it is always a task to put a color gel on them. We've burned through enough party gels in our lifetimes, so the fact that Aputure has gone full RGBWW on their new 600c feels like someone heard our prayers. Same robust body as the 600d, same connectivity options including Aputure's Sidus Link, same Bowens mount accessories, and overall the same sense of confidence. Nothing better than knowing your lights will always work on set.

Hands-On Testing

We momentarily played around with this light on the show floor at NAB and the super-secret film dinner. At first glance, the ballast looks like a standard 600d ballast. Added to this new menu, you have the capability of dialing HSI for your color selection, and it carries the same punch as the 600d. Comes with built-in effects like your standard RGB Aputure light, such as the Nova series lights, the B7c bulbs, and the MCs. The ease of the Sidus makes this light a must-use on set.

Specifications We Know Right Now

The 600c will be able to take you from 2300K all the way to 10,000K in the color temperature range to blend in with any lighting environment. Like with the 600d, you'll be able to use V-mount batteries to power this light. Full RGB control on the ballast and through Sidus Link. And, of course, you can also control it with LumenRadio CRMX, 16-bit DMX512, or Artnet & sACN via etherCON). It'll be about as heavy as the 600d, so in reality, it's the same light, just with the amazing addition of the full RGB control.

Price point is coming in at $2450, but you'll be able to rent that from us at DSF Rentals very soon!
